About the project

Alpha proxy was my first game ever created together with a team, as the introduction project to my study in the Netherlands. The study had a primary focus on digital games however having no skills to immediately start coding games, the fist project had a focus on a physical game.

Developer team: Maurine Kacel, Menno van Delden, Tom Meiyer, Edward Tailor, Gaspar Viragos

Alpha proxy, the game

It is a battle card game for two players. It contains planning, resource management, tactics, and as all card games, a little luck. The prototype had three factions (three decks) that battled for supremacy over the planet, Alpha proxy. These factions are mostly fantasy races implemented into sci-fi environment. The game was inspired by the genre of LCGs (Living Card Games).

The design of the game

Although my original role would have been the designer position, I did a lot of organisational work for the project as well. I really enjoyed it and I worked quite a lot on it. I did most of the designing and playtesting and also contributed in other ways like motivating the others to go on. I initiated the main idea of the game and worked on the mechanics and the backstory. This was fully a study experience and we had no intention to publish the game.
