About the project
The ‘Mind if I control?’ – or as we have called it during the development process: the ‘chicken game’ – is the final work of our group in the first university year. At the same time, this was the first game that has been designed and developed for an actual client. We used advanced methods (like SCRUM) during the creating process. The game is made with educational purpose, to teach kids between age 8-12 abstraction and computational thinking.
The game
The player has full control over the agent, the mind controlled chicken, and has to code a command list, based on the actual level. It requires skills, such as problem solving, strategy and abstraction. It also improves these skills.
The design of the game
Although this time my primary role was to be the designer, I also supported the development process and supervised the teamwork. As a designer I have worked on the puzzles of the level (the interaction between game elements and their layout) and on the various elements of the user interface. In addition I have helped the development process by some of the easier coding tasks. Finally, I undertook the work on organizing and documenting the process.
